Area 32 International Speech Contest |
|
Area 32 International Speech Contest was held in Yokohama on Mar. 21.
From Shonan TMC, TM Midori Hirota participated as a contestant
and
SHE WON the SECOND PRIZE!!
The 1st Place Winner

and the 2nd Place Winner
TM Midori Hirota
proceed to the DIV C International Speech Contest on Apr. 12 hosted by Shonan TMC.

We held In-house Speech Contest with the participation of 8 Contestants on Feb. 14.
The result was as follows:
1st Place Winner: TM M. Hirota (Speech title:Boss)
2nd Place Winner: TM T. Aoyama (Speech title:Do I Really Exist?)
3rd Place Winner: TM T. Ono (Speech title:First Experiences on School Excursions)
The 1st Place Winner Midori Hirota proceed to the Area 32 International Speech Contest on Mar. 21.

We all miss TM Chandra who will move to UK coming January.

2008 District 76 Table Topics Contest & Hall of Fame |
The 2008 District 76 Table Topics Contest was hosted by Pioneer Toastmasters Club at "Saitama Kyosai- Kaikan" in Urawa,
Saitama City on November 1, 2008, with attendees of 167 people.
From Shonan TMC, about 8 members participated in the contest.
- Contest in Japanese
Five contestants from each Division competed on the following topic:
「あなたが日本人に相応しいテーブルトピックスの出題を考えるとしたら、それはどんな出題ですか？」
The result was as follows:
1st Place Winner: TM Tomohide Oshima (Yokohama TMC)
2nd Place Winner: TM Kiyoshi Inoue (Musashi TMC)
3rd Place Winner: TM Kazuko Kawauchi (Pioneer TMC)

Five contestants from each Division competed on the following topic:
"What would be the contribution you could make to the society you belong to?"
The result was as follows:
1st Place Winner: TM Marama Carmichael Kishimoto (Tokushima TMC)
2nd Place Winner: TM Tomohide Oshima (Yokohama TMC)
3rd Place Winner: TM Marei-Josee Brassard (Sendai TMC)
After the District Contest, Hall of Fame (Recognition of Divisions,
Areas and Clubs 2007-2008 by District 76) was held.
TM Takeo Ishi who are Area 32 Governor 2007-2008 received "Select
Distinguished Area Award" and "Area Governor of the year."
STMC received "Presidents' Distinguished Club Award"
because STMC accomplished 10 points of Distinghished Club Program(DCP).
7 clubs in Japan were received "Presidents' Distinguished Club Award,"
and only 4 clubs out of more than 80 clubs in Japan accomplished 10
(full) points of DCP. Without all members' supports and efforts, any club
cannot reach this glorious goal. This accomplishment is really honorable for we
all members.

2008 Division C Table Topics Contest |
The 2008 Division C Table Topics Contest was hosted by Aoyama Lunch TMC at Te-Ku-No Kawasaki in Musashi-Mizonokuchi
on October 19, 2008.
From Shonan TMC, some members participated in the contest, either as judge, timer, vote counter, or general audience.
The topic presented by TM Yukiko Shiratori was as follows:
"With English as lingua franca most people are learning English these days.
Question: Do you think learning another foreingn language beside English is necessary?
Tell us the reason why you think so!"
Six contestnats representing Areas 31, 32, and 33 participated in the contest.
And the winners were as follows:
1st Place Winner: TM Tomohide Oshima (Yokohama TMC: Area 32)
2nd Place Winner: TM Bruce Perkins (Yamato Bilingual TMC: Area 33)
3rd Place Winner: TM Msako Kusakari (Den-en Toshi TMC: Area 31)
The 1st Winner T. Oshima will proceed to the District 76 Table Topics Contest in Saitama City on November 1, with the 2nd Winner B. Perkins as the alternate. |

2008 Area 32 Table Topics Contest |
2nd Place Winner,TM A.Tanaka(From Kamakura TMC) is also a member of STMC.
From Shonan TMC, more than 10 members participated in the contest,
either as a contestant(TM Murai), judge, timer, or general audience.
The Topic presented by TM Yasuko Mamuro was as follows:
"Assume you have an 18 year old son. One day he comes to you, looking a little worried, and asks you for some advice.
After a long conversation with you, he appears very relieved and happy.
What advice did you give him?"
Six contestants representing six clubs in Area 32, or Atsugi-Zama, Kamakura, Mikasa, Minato-Mirai, Shonan,
and Yokohama TMCs, participtated in the contest.
The result was as follows:
1st Place Winner: TM Tomohide Oshima (Yokohama TMC)
2nd Place Winner: TM Akihiro Tanaka (Kamakura TMC)
3rd Place Winner: TM Masashi Wada (Atsugi-Zama TMC)
The 1st Place Winner T. Ohima and 2nd Place Winner A. Tanaka proceed to the 2008 Division C Table Topics Contest to be held at Kawasaki-shi on October 19, with 3rd Place Winner M. Wada as the alternate.
