2020年4月11日第525回の例会は、前回に続いて3回目の会議ソフトZOOMによるオンライン方式となりました。ZOOMは使い易いソフトで、初めてのときにはどのアイコンが何を意味するとか、使用したいショートカットがどこにあるとかに戸惑うこともありましたが、今回は早くも参加者全員14名が自由に対応して、例会はスムーズに進みました。今回は嬉しいことに、ゲストさんにもご参加頂き、楽しんでいただくことができました。

　準備されたスピーチが2件とそれに対する論評、その場で全員に個別に与えられた話題についてそれぞれ2分間の即席スピーチ(Table Topics Speech)など、予定した2時間余りを有意義に過ごすことができました。

オンライン方式は、新型コロナウィルスへの感染拡大予防のための外出・集会自粛の中の方策でしたが、期せずして、大変能率的で多忙な人も参加し易い形となりました。ZOOMについてはセキュリティの弱さも指摘されていますが、二、三の注意すべき点に配慮すれば、私たちの会には問題ないと思います。

The meeting started with the introduction of the Word of the Day: “Enchanting”, which means very pleasant or attractive, by TM E. M.

Prepared Speech Session

Two prepared speeches were “How to Overcome Dementia” (L1-2-2) by TM Y. U. and “Where have All the Toilet Paper Gone?” (L1-3) by TM M. Y.

TM Y. U. said: There are many elderly people in the society around me. Before I was worried about my dementia, I thought there would be still much to help them. That is why I’m still working for a welfare organization.

I am convinced that just doing this can overcome my dementia.

TM M. Y. pointed out: Technological Innovation has changed the way of spreading rumors. Even though we face such a situation, we should stay calm, think twice, and then act. It’s only YOU to stop “Infordemic”.

Evaluation Session

Two evaluators, TM T. O. and TM T. U presented thoughtful evaluations with certain suggestions for further improvement, respectively.

Table Topics Session

TM M. H gave various topics ranging from very abstract ones such as happiness or encouragement to concrete ones such as life style or foods stocks to the audience and each responded with a short speech full of wit and humor.

Note

Most speakers showed their faces almost full on the screen through the meeting, that is they all kept sitting close to cameras. Some could show him/herself in full length in the camera so that gestures may work well.

TMOD award was presented to TM T. S for her positive participation despite being an inactive member.

 

収束への兆しすら見えないコロナウィルスの影響下で、今回の例会も前回に引き続き2回目のオンライン例会として実施されました。

当初のオンサイト例会予定では、新たに４名が加わり合計１０名が出席するオンライン例会となりました。２回目となれば継続参加者のみなさんからは自信のようなものが感じられ、新しいことへの挑戦と自信、トーストマスターズ活動にピッタリの例会でした。

例会内容は、以下英語でご紹介します。

 

 The meeting started at 14:20 as usual with the voice of the president.
Word of the Day was presented by TM K. K. this time.　The word is “contain.”
One of the sample sentences “The government is making every effort to contain the new corona Virus.” was very timely.

Prepared Speech Session
First speaker TM T. O. delivered his speech titled “During One of My Past Career” which was the project L2-1 “Understanding Your Leadership Style” from the Path “Effective Coaching.”
His speech was about his experience from organizing the labor union to ratifying the labor agreement with the company and about one incident he happened to meet as a full time labor union official.

Second speaker TM M. Hirota　Although her speech was given as a pathway project speech, actually the 2nd speech of Level 3-, “Effective Body Language”, Dynamic Leadership, the speech  was the speech for the upcoming Division E Speech scheduled on April 19.  We gave feedback to support her toward the best results at the contest. 

Evaluation Session
TM A. T. who would leave STMC at the end of March kindly took the unexpected role of General Evaluator.
Evaluator TM K. K. and TM T. U. evaluated the speeches by TM T. O. and TM M. H. respectively, stating the points for improvement in a constructive manner.

Table Topics Session
TM E. M. took the role of Table Topics Master.
First he showed a big photo of a taxi-driver who mastered English conversation by his own efforts.
The topic master’s question was as follows.
You are a taxi-driver and are asked by a visitor from abroad to go to his/her destination.
Please guide him/her to the destination with warm hospitality.
The master changed the destination for each respondent.
It was a very good idea.

ついに我々のクラブ活動にも新型コロナウイルスの影響が！！　クラブ始まって以来のオンライン例会を実施したところ、驚くべき楽しい例会となりました。次回からはゲストさんもスマホやカメラが登載されたPCなどからご参加頂けます。（詳しくは【見学をお申込み】をどうぞ！！）

実は、いつも利用している藤沢市公民館のFプレスが当面その影響でクローズされることになり、苦渋の決断でした。　例会を長い期間ストップする訳にもいかず、役員メンバーで対応を検討した結果、上位組織であるディストリクト７６の推奨もあり、オンライン例会を試してみることになりました。
　まずは3月14日例会に先立ち、8日(日)の夜に役員メンバーでトライ。その結果、我がクラブ始まって以来のオンライン例会が実現しました。ZOOMのアプリを利用し、PCとスマホを使って行いました。チャット機能を駆使し、ベスト賞の授与も実施。エリアディレクターや可愛いゲストさんも登場し、笑いが絶えなかった例会を以下、英語でご紹介します。

Prepared Speech Session:
First speaker TM T. K delivered his speech,“Winter event of my family.” It was the second version of his project“Evaluation and Feedback.”He went the ski resort  with his family. The content was a very　heartwarming that he enjoyed with his family at the
ski resort on the year-end holiday. The improvement points he received ib his first speech were to speak slow and quick as appropreate, using pause and voice projection, and paying attention to the  audience. He did a great job!

Second speaker TM T. U delivered his speech titled,“Story from essential of　failure” which was project L3-1 Connect with Storytelling. The content of his speech was about Japan’s　
failure in the Battle of Midway, which was a turning point for Japan’s defeat in the Pacific
War. The so-called vague support of the　Japanese side became the essence of failure.
According to the book, this is　one of the downsides for Japanese leadership still exists
today. It seemed his speech met the purpose of the project.

Evaluation　Session
TMOD TM Y. U took the role of General evaluator concurrently. Evaluator TM M.Y. and TM E.M. evaluated speeches by the TM T.K and TMT.U respectively, stating points for improvement, in a constructive manner.

Table Topics Session
TM K.K. took the role of Table Topics Master. This time the topics respondents were expected to become TV reporters, and broadcast the situation on site. The story is completely free. It was all about talking freely, mixing places, situations, and characters, what was happening and the progress. All members except the topic master spoke on this interesting topic .
Award Presentation: Best Table Topics Award went to TM M. Y. and TMOD Award went to TM M.H.
Finally, a discussion session was open to provide feedback for the first on-line meeting.

みなさま　今回は日本語で案内いたします。
湘南TMCは2月29日実施のエリア55コンテストで英語優勝・日本語3位入賞となりました。 英語優勝者は3月22日実施のディビジョンEコンテストに進出し、6人のエリア代表と競います。

コロナウィルスの影響で会場が閉鎖となり、閉鎖解除となるまで、3月からオンラインでの例会開催となります。3月28日例会からゲスト様のごオンライン参加も可能です。どうぞお気軽にご連絡ください！！！応援をよろしくお願いいたします。

 藤沢市市民活動推進センター発行の情報クリップ2月号にエリアコンテストの記事を掲載頂きました。　このコンテストは、藤沢・茅ケ崎エリアのクラブのスピーチコンテストです。勝ち抜き形式で、勝者は順次　上位レベルのコンテストで戦います。　
日本語コンテスト部では、湘南トーストマスターズクラブのE.M.氏が第3位となりました。湘南は、英語のみを言語とするクラブのため、日本語でのスピーチでの入賞は快挙です。

コンテストは、とても楽しい雰囲気で進められます。　最期は全員で「変顔　（おどけた変な顔）」をして、締めくくりました。　トーストマスターズは、クラブ相互の横のつながりも強く、年齢とは関係なしに、幅広い交際ができます。　4月には全国大会が京都で開催され、理事会や様々な研修に加えて、日本語・英語のコンテストが開催されます。英語コンテストの場合、優勝者は夏に開催される世界大会での出場権を映像審査で競い、最終的には今年はパリで開催されるトーストマスターズの世界大会でスピーチ力を競います。
