8月の例会は夏季特別月間として、Prepared Speechのみを行う、Speakathon（スピーカソン）とWorkshopが企画されております。

8月8日、第533例会はSpeakathonです。
特別企画として、参加者全員が”うちわ”を持参し、オンライン画面の中で涼を感じられる例会となりました。

通常の例会ではPrepared Speechは2名ですが、この日は8名の方が参加、スピーチ回数の少ない方や、活動休止中の方も参加されました。
全員が持ち時間内でクリアー、失格者がおりませんでした。

各スピーチのスピーカーとタイトルをご紹介します。

Best Speaker賞には最後にスピーチをしましたM・Yさん、TMOD賞には5番目にスピーチをしましたT・Sさんが受賞されました。

• 第532回定例会 July-25-2020 ハイブリッド例会

  There have hardly been sunny days in July.
  Almost all the days have been cloudy and rainy. Prices of some vegetables are beginning to rise due to lack of sunny days. On the other hand, the number of people infected with a new corona virus in one day went up to the highest on Thursday. The second wave has surely come here and there. We can’t be too careful of our health.

NO 532 Regular Meeting was held in the form of hybrid (onsite and online at the same time). Eight members attended onsite and one member attended online.  We were happy to have one guest as well.

Word of the Day “proud” I feel proud of you.

1st Speaker TM E. M. Title: “My Mentor”, Project: Third of Level two “Introduction to Toastmasters Mentoring”, Path: “Innovative Planning”
TM E. M. nostalgically talked about the late TM Y. O. who served as Mentor of TM E. M.

2nd Speaker TM M. H. Title: “Stepping Out”, Project: Third of Level three “Make Connections Through Networking”, Path: “Dynamic Leadership”
TM M. H. earnestly described three strategies for building connections through networking, especially including Toastmasters experiences.

第531回定例会 July-11-2020 ハイブリッド例会

今期初回の第531例会は7月11日、Fプレイスは302号室でハイブリッド例会として行われました。
新型コロナウイルスの影響で3月から6月まで8回のオンライン例会を重ね、例会の手法として定着しました。今回、Fプレイスの会場が人数制限と衛生管理のもとに使用が可能となり、オンサイトとオンラインを併用とするハイブリット例会となりました。

Fプレイスの会場には新Area Director、ゲストのご夫妻を迎え、9名が参加、オンラインで2名が参加されました。

初めてのハイブリッド例会でオンラインとのアクセスや、ボートカウント仕方など今後の課題はありますが無事終了いたしました。

第529回定例会 June-13-2020 オンライン例会

いよいよ7月から湘南TMCはFプレイスの会場が使えるようになりそうです。オンラインのよさを取り入れたハイブリッド例会を開催する予定です。ハイブリッド例会は、WIFI設備の整った会場を手配してZOOM会議を開催し、オンライン参加者と会場を双方向でつなぐ例会のこと。一番参加しやすい形に向けて、準備をすすめています。

我々の活動年度期間は7月から6月です。よって今期は今回と次回（6/27）だけとなりました。次回は通常の例会はお休みで、会員だけによるイベント開催なります。その内容は次回ご報告といたします。

以下、英語で例会報告をします。

Doors opened as usual at 14:00. As usual there was a brief online workshop to practice different ZOOM functions.

President E.M. called meeting to order at 14:20. Word Master announced Today’s word of the day:”They” used for a single third party as a gender-free concept. The word of the day is the word to be used intensively during the meeting.

Control was passed to today’s meeting moderator TM Y.U. who led the Educational Session. Supporters were: Grammarian TM M.H, Vote Counter TM A.T. and Timer. TM T. O. We thanked Guest TM K.N as Area Director, TM T. S  and TM A. T.

Prepared Speech Session

1st Speaker was TM M. Y.: Her speech titled, “The Communication Style”.
She learned there were 4 Communication styles, DIRECT, INITIATING,SUPPORTIVE, and ANALYTICAL. Then, to identify her preferred Communication Style, she answered the questionnaire on the Pathways.As a result, her communication style was INITIATING.
After complete this project, she realized that understanding communication styles is important and it makes better relationship with others.

2nd Speaker was TM T. U.: His speech titled, “When you receive an emotional e-mail”. He told us “Have you received an emotional e-mail? “ When you write an e-mail for requesting something, giving an information to your colleague or friends, but the reply was amazing for you because the mail was extremely emotional. He explained about past e-mails with examples of failures. 
Quick reply e-mail involves troubles. He tried not to response e-mail quickly.

At the Evaluation Session, TM M. H evaluated first speech, and TM K.K. evaluated second speech, pointing out areas that are commendable as well as these for improvements.

Table topic! This program is to answer to the given topic questions in the form of a 2-minute speech. Table Topics master, TM E. M created questions for all using various memorial days in June.

4. June 10th;  The anniversary of time. There are many ways to know time …Q: Do you have watch?  If not, how do you know what time it is?
5. June 6: The day of Ume liquor. Rainy season starts today. Ume liquor is good for preventing food poisoning and summer heat. …Q: Do you like to drink Ume liquor?
6. June 15: The day of Summer greeting cards. Post office starts selling Summer greeting cards. According to a survey, people feel happier to receive Summer greeting cards than new year cards…Q: Do you have the habit of sending Summer greeting cards?
7. June 16: The day of Japanese cake. There are many kind of Japanese cakes known as Japanese style confectionery …Q: What kind of Japanese cake do you recommend for foreigner?
8. June 17:  The day of policeman. 150 years ago, Koban system started today. …Q:Have you recently been concerned with policeman?
9. June 20:  The day of Snack food.　We have a lot of snack foods in convenience store…Q: Do you eat snack food every day?
10. June 23: Father’s Day. …Q .If so, please tell us about your father.

General Evaluator was today’s guest of honor, Area Director K.N. She favorably praised the two evaluators and each section with suggestions for improvement. We are thankful for her generous support on us that continued throughout this term by visiting us, and taking roles at the meeting on our request.  It was great to hear that she will continue to visit after leaving her role.

  Today’s TMOD Award was presented to TM T.O. We thank him for completing the room reservations and role assignments in a difficult environment to prevent corona virus infections.
