Regular Meeting April 27, 2019

The Regular Meeting No. 505, the last meeting in Heisei era, was held on April 27 at Tsujido Library with 14 active members visited by Area 55 director TM J. P. 
            
                                  
President T. O. called the meeting to order at 14:10 just on time.
He talked about several issues; the election of the next president, revised Questionnaire sheet, etc. The meeting for handing over the officers’ roles and The Moment of the Truth are scheduled on June 22.

Then the Word of the Day “fertile and futile” were introduced by Grammarian TM K. K.

<Toastmaster of the Day>
Toastmaster of the Day, TM Y. H. introduced her 3 powerful assistants, Grammarian K. K., Vote counter TM J. H. and Timer TM T. O.

Although we had no guest, 3 assistants explained their roles briefly, because TM J. H. took the role of Vote Counter for the first time.
                                    

<Joke Session>
Joke master TM S. H. told funny stories. Everybody enjoyed her stories. 
   

<Prepared Speech Session>
One prepared speaker made her speech under the new education system “Pathways” and three speakers made their speeches
according to CC manual ; #8, #4, and #9.
TMOD TM Y.H. asked 4 speakers to give answers to the question;
“What is the most impressive matter in Heisei?”

The 1st Speaker was TM K. T. His comment was that the Fall of Berlin Wall happened in the first year of Heisei and the fire damage of Notre Dame in Paris happened in its last year. The title of his speech is “How do they call it?”

He used projector very effectively to explain about names of people and cities pronounced differently in European countries, which seems very confusing. He said, “That being the case, we, who learn each language from scratch might have a certain advantage over Europeans.

The 2nd Speaker is TM M. H. Her comment was her family histories happened during Heisei.
Her speech title is “My Chosen Style of Leadership” She proceeded to Passways project 2 and delivered her speech. It was about leadership style only humans can choose in terms of usage of words, comparing with that of monkeys. Her power point gave us colorful message.
              
 
The 3rd speaker was TM H.S. Her answer to the question was “I lived in Japan.” Her speech title was, “Visit Enoshima Shrines” She explained each Enoshima shrine with the colorful details according to her experience.

The 4th Speaker was TM K. I. He answered to the question, “Positive Mind and Active Life” He showed the certificate of contribution for the Yokohama Medaka School where he was the principal. His dreams and his final activities in his life is to live with his friends at Toufukuji temple. He is expecting to carry on Shonan toastmasters regular meeting even in the other world.
        
                        
<Table Topics Session>
Table Topics Master TM T. A. took up 5 questions.
Questions and Table Topic Speakers were as follows.
   1. Do you think the elderly should return his or her driver’s license before 75 years
       old? (TM K. I.)
   2. Do you put up a national flag on May 1st at the entrance of your house?
       (TM S. H.)
   3. What good points do you recall in Showa? (TM J. P.)
   4. Which do you like better simply, Showa or Heisei? (TM J. H.)
   5. Do you believe perfectly an automatic control system car? (TM M. H.)

<Evaluation Session>
After 15-minute intermission, the Evaluation Session started at 4 o’clock.
General Evaluator TM T.K., a pinch hitter for TM T. I. introduced 4 evaluators humorously.
Three Evaluators, TM M. I., TM A. M. and TM N. N. (he evaluated two speeches!), gave appropriate, encouraging evaluations.
          
 

<Award Presentation>
TMOD Award was given to                             TM T. K. because of her accepting the
                                                     role of General Evaluator late at the previous night.

Best Table Topics Award was given to          TM J. P.
Best Evaluator Award was given to                TM N. N.
