TMOD(本日の司会)は、Jadeさんです。それでは、本日の例会の様子です。
今回はスピーカソン マラソンの代わりにスピーチを数多くつなげる夏のイベントです。コロナのために会場参加は少なく、オンライン参加でのスピーチの数を増やしたところ、なんと手配したWIFI環境が不調となり、会場参加4名とゲスト1名だけで実施する、かってない少ない規模での開催となりました。
折角スピーチをご準備頂いたオンライン参加予定のスピーカ会員には本当に申し訳ありませんでした。
Word of the Day “Pants”
※毎回、”本日の単語”を設定します。本日の単語は、なんとPantsでした。
実は、beat the pants off 打ち負かす bore the pants off 死ぬほど退屈させる、等という面白い意味があるそうです。こんな面白い表現をうまく使えるようになりたいですね。
[Prepared Speech Session]
※スピーカーは、数週間前からスピーチの準備をし、本番(当日)に臨みます。今回は会場参加予定の3名がスピーチに臨みました。
Speech #1: Bobさん Title: Fosters Peace
The purpose of this project is for the member to understand the types of persuasive speeches and deliver a persuasive speech at a club meeting. Bob-san introduced us on the new concept FOIP or Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy and reviewed various foreign policies we have been accustomed to surrounding East Asian nations. It was an eye-opening speech on the new stage of the country.
Speech #2: Hirokoさん Title: Motherhood
The purpose of this project is to begin developing a collection of humorous stories and to present a speech that includes humor. Hiroko-san found an ideal theme for this end, and talked about her bittersweet experience as mother. She found she was so busy when her children were small, and somehow turned to be taxi driver for them when they grew. We know that she is a devoting mother even to this day.
Speech #3: Eikiさん Title: The Future of Mentors
The purpose of this speech is for the member to share aspects of a previous experience as a protégé. Eiki-san did just that, introducing us his Mentor Okamoto as well as various aspects of the club in the good old days.
[Table Topics Session]
事前準備なしに短い英語スピーチを行うTable topics sessionでは、ゲストを含めたメンバー全員がチャレンジ。このセッションでは、どんなトピックが自分にあたるのかいつもドキドキです。本日のお題担当は、Bobさん。ゲストさんも参加し、17のSustainable Development Goalsから、好みの数を選んでお題としました。2015年の「国連持続可能な開発サミット」で決められた持続可能な開発目標はそれぞれどのようにして実現できるでしょうか。あなたも当意即妙で英語で答えられますか？
