The regular meeting No. 510 was held on July 13th at Mina Park with 14 active members and one guest.  This was the first ordinary regular meeting under new president TM E. M.

President TM E. M. called the meeting to order at 14:10 on time.

<Word of the Day>
The Word of the Day “fabulous” (adj.) was introduced by Grammarian TM T. U.
Derivatives; fabulously (adv.) was also encouraged to be used.

 <Toastmaster of the Day>
TMOD TM T. O. started the meeting by introducing photographs printed on the program, suitable for hot summer season.
He introduced his assistants: Grammarian TM T. U., Vote counter TM E. M. and Timer T. K. Since we had one guest, they explained their roles briefly.

 <Joke Session>
Joke master TM M. H. introduced some jokes about the 1st Kohaku Utagassen, and talked about the culture and lifestyle at that time, with the title “Fabulous Jokes”.
She also gave a quiz about 3 home electronic appliances, by showing pictures on screen, which one belongs to so called “Three Sacred Treasures”? From the answer of this question, she expanded on the topics, then mentioned about a Princess wedding and the Emperor retirement. 

  <Prepared Speech Session>
TMOD TM T.O. introduced 4 speakers with answers they gave to the question: “What is your plan to do in this Summer Vacation?”

The 1st Speaker TM M. Y.
Her speech was for Pathways “Presentation Mastery”, Level 1-1, Ice Breaker. The title was “Introduction myself”.
She introduced herself, about her hometown, hobby, and her work. She likes traveling and swimming. She talked about an experience when she went abroad, that experience impressed on her, then she decided to be a teacher. And she explained the reason why she started to join Toastmasters Club. She succeeded in breaking ice, congratulations, TM M. Y.!

The 2nd speaker TM J. H.
Her speech was for Pathways “Innovative Planning” Level 1-2-1, Evaluation and Feedback. The title was “Encouraged by words”. 
Her speech was about how she handled and overcome stresses from others and bad events. She recently got strong stresses, those things depressed her. But one day, she listened to a speech on TED talk, and she was encouraged by the speech performed by a CNN anchor woman, especially, the speech title was “Trust your struggles”. Then she gradually recovered from bad moments. 

The 3rd speaker TM K. T.
His speech was for CC Project#9, Persuade with Power, the title was “We were so hungry”. I
n his speech, he showed some pictures drawn by himself in his childhood, it was in 1945, toward the end of the war. He was one of the schoolboys evacuated from Tokyo to countryside. Those pictures were kept by his classmates. By showing those pictures, he talked about his experiences in the wartime. He drew many foods and sweets that he dreamed to eat at that time. But reality was they were so hungry, they ate anything which looked edible, tooth powder, grasshoppers, even ants.
He explained how he felt when he listened to the announcement by the Emperor, on August 15. After the war ended, he returned home. Even if food supply was not good enough, he felt atmosphere had changed. People could speak out whatever they thought.  More than 70 years passed since then, now he feels the air surrounding us is becoming suffocating again. He suggested we should think seriously about war and peace.

The 4th Speaker TM N. N.His speech was for Pathways: Motivational Strategies, L-1-2-1 Evaluation and Feedback, and the title was “How much do you know me? No.2”.  
He introduced himself, mainly about his job, why he selected his job. At University, he read one book and he was impressed so much. That experience changed his life. He went abroad to meet the author and majored in communication there. After he came back to Japan, he worked 45 years as a teacher in University. Many of his students succeed in their life, but he thought he also learned a lot from them.  

 <Table Topics Session> 
TM H. S. served as Table Topic Master. She asked 5 questions, each question is related to the answerer. Questions were as follows:
     1. Can money buy happiness?
     2. What is your happy stress?
     3. What is your favorite foods when you teach in front of your students?
     4. What kind of the medical terms which is not easy to explain to the foreigners?
     5. Do you like to have a cup of coffee in the morning time?
　　　　　

<Evaluation Session>
After 10-minute intermission, the Evaluation Session started at 16:00.
General Evaluator TM K. K. took the control of the Evaluation session.
He introduced 4 evaluators, TM. Y.U., TM H.S., TM M.H, and TM T.O.
Each evaluator appreciated each speaker’s speech pointing out good points, and gave constructive suggestion to improve the speech more.
