Regular meeting No. 493 was held on October 13, 2018 at Mina Park, Fujisawa, with 18 participants and 1 guest.

TMOD TM K. T. took the control of the meeting nearly 15 minutes behind the schedule because there was an animated discussion about the role assignment, particularly about possible decrease in the number of prepared speakers. TMOD proposed that “question and answer time” after each speech shall be dropped in this meeting to recover the delay in the time schedule, and this proposal was accepted.
                            
Joke Session
Joke Master TM T.M. introduced some humorous stories from our daily life and brought amiable atmosphere among the audience. 

Prepared Speech Session
         All 4 speakers tackled Pathways.
MOD TM K. T. introduced them with answers to the question he asked in advance: “As we are in the season of appetite, what is your favorite autumn delicacy?”

1st Speaker TM L.C.’s answer to the question was that his favorite food in autumn was new rice. Pathways he follows was Innovative Planning, and his project was L-1-2-1 Evaluation and Feedback.
His speech title was “Pathways” (Time: 5-7 minutes), and he explained the procedure of entering Pathways showing Pages of TMI site by projector. Being the present VPE, his intention was to raise awareness of Pathways procedure to the members.

2nd Speaker was TM Y. W. His favorite food in autumn was western pear (la France). He told of his experience of picking pears from trees near Shonandai with his family. The path he follows was Dynamic Leadership, and his project was L-1-2-1 Evaluation and Feedback – same as TM Chen.
The speech was titled “Impiety” (Time: 5-7 minutes). He categorized impiety (親不孝) to 1. To become a criminal, 2. To die before parents, and 3. To be unhappy. As for No. 3, he pointed out that this is not easy to tell. – there are some cases where children themselves feel happy while parents’ perceptions are different. Apparently, this question attracted much interest of the audience because many of them belong to parents’ generation.

3rd Speaker TM M. H. said her favorite food in autumn was Sanma and said it reminds her of the happiness of living in Japan. The path she follows was Dynamic Leadership, and her project was L-1-3. With this speech she finishes Level 1.
Her speech title was “Come in Out of the Cold” (time:5-7 minutes). She started the speech by mentioning Nobel Prize, and then moved to the topic of catching cold. She pointed out that cold can cause various illness, and by catching cold you may not only be a victim, but also may victimize someone else. To prevent this, the advice is simply handwashing, gargle and wearing mask. And she concluded that scientists who would find the way of eliminating cold would deserve Nobel Prize.

The last speaker TM T. O. replied to the question about autumn food, that he likes Fuji apples. His path he follows in Effective Coaching and the project was L-1-2-1 Evaluation and Feedback.
His speech title was “A few things about my hometown” (5-7 minutes), and he told various aspects of Kaminoyama City, Yamagata where he had been raised. The topics ranged from its history to places of attraction. . They included Kaminoyama-Onsen, local horse race and Mokichi Saito, a poet and psychologist who had been born there.

Timer TM K. I. reported that all speakers were qualified.

Table Topics Session
In Table Topics Session, TM E. M. named various commemorative days in October – not only a national holiday but also “coffee day”, “public bath day” and so on, and asked questions about those days to 5 members.
                                              
These questions were unexpected to everyone and aroused lively responses.
All table topic speakers were qualified in term of time, and the first half of the meeting ended 7 minutes behind the schedule. TMOD announced that the intermission would be curtailed to 8 minutes and the meeting would be resumed 5 minutes later than scheduled.

Evaluation Session
The Evaluation started at 15:55, and the control of the meeting was handed over from TMOD to General Evaluator TM Y. U.

He introduced Evaluators one by one, namely TMs Y. H., H. S., T. K. and K. K.
While every evaluator tried to evaluate in the light of “purposes” of Pathways, as “purposes” are simple compared with objectives” in CC manuals, each evaluator told of his/her observation from general viewpoints.

According to the Timers report, unfortunately, 2 out of 4 Evaluators turned out to be disqualified because they exceeded the time.

General Evaluator TM Y. U. kept the general evaluation of the meeting short to meet the time schedule.

Award Presentation
In the end, award winners were announced as follows:
 
TMOD Award: TM E. M. (Table Topics Master) as he mentioned various unknown 
          commemorative days in October and drew them out many interesting answers.
  Best Table Topics Speaker: TM A. M.
  Best Evaluator: TM. K. K.                            
  Best Speaker: TM Y. W.

The meeting was adjourned only a few minutes later than scheduled.

Declaration and Induction Ceremony for Mr. T. U. was held.
His application for the membership was unanimously approved.
The new TM T. U. gave his pledge without note and impressed every participant.
