The Study Meeting of Pathways, Toastmasters International New Education Program, was held at Cocco Terrace Shonan on August 25.
Seventeen members participated. 
                    
Some of them brought their personal computers with them.

Pathways had rolled out worldwide successively since last year, and in Japan (District 76) started on May 4 this year.
Many years have passed since the current program was established. But it hasn’t been much updated since 1970s.

Pathways is a modernized learning experience suited to the changing global society. It offers members more benefits and more opportunities to learn, grow and meet personal and professional goals.
The big difference between Pathways and the current program is the online access to educational materials in Pathways compared to the use of paper materials in the current program.

Therefore, some skill to operate PC (online) is required to access Pathways. Since there are some members who are not used to operating PC (online) or don’t have enough information to access, Pathways勉強会 was planned.
VPE TM L. Chen successfully instructed the participating members mainly the first steps to get into Pathways, how to select the Path (Educational Course) and how to start on the Path including Q&A by showing the materials on the screen.
After that, they watched the video of Pathways Online Seminar carried out by District 76 staff members.

The attendees seemed to get rid of allergies to Pathways and positively proceed to the first project “Ice Breaker”.

Regular Meeting #490 was held with 16 members on August 11, 2018.
Originally it had been scheduled to be held on July 28, but was postponed due to Typhoon No 12.
                                                               

It started with <JOKE SESSION>
TM A. M. introduced heartwarming episode of his granddaughter、who has come back from Singapore. She is taking lessons of modern dance and Granpa always takes her to her lessons in Sakuragichou, Minato Mirai area. Granpa and granddaughter enjoy talking and taking breakfast at McDonald’s.

<PREPARED SPEECH SESSION>
1^st speaker   TM A. M. (8 minutes)                         
Title; ”The strategy of brain survival”                                                                                
He introduced three miraculous functions of brain. 1) Endorphin. When necessary, it powers up immune system and gives feeling of super happiness. 2)Searching for the data base. From birth to death. 3) Synchronized system．It is like telepathy which makes twins dream the same dream .He said that we can enjoy those functions fully when we help people, or find something interesting, He recommended that we should live eagerly and find a lot of satisfaction.
2^nd speaker   TM M. I. ( 7 minutes)                          
Title; “ From service to Omotenashi”
She picked up TESSEI’s example ( subsidiary of JR East) which succeeded in changing their service to Omotenashi, and emphasized the importance of employees’ motivation and awareness that they are the main characters at workplace stage, adding the episode of a couple visiting Tokyo Disneyland.
3^rd speaker       TM T. O.   (6 minutes)                    
Title;”What has influenced me the most”
When he joined high school baseball team, he set three rules. He would never give up however hard the practice might be. It’s reasonable that the inferior should make much more effort than the superior. Practice makes perfect. Later when he hesitated to join Shonan Toastmasters Club, he remembered those rules and he decided to join the club with determination.

Title;” Mother Come Back”
Life is precious. You have to keep the fire until the end of your life. With this belief and systematic approach, she was able to help her mother recover from the first stage of dementia.
The effort was rewarding, with the wonderful scene of her mother saying “The cherry blossoms are beautiful”, while she was driving a cherry tree-lined road.

This session requires 2-minute impromptu speech. It is a thrilling moment for each respondent to the Table Topic Master TM L. C.’s call .
Questions were:
1. How was playing the role as VPE last term?
2. How would you like to play the role if you were VPE?
3. Which do you think more important ,English skill or communication skill?
4. What is the main purpose for you to join this club?

<EVALUATION SESSION>
Four evaluators gave 3-minute warm evaluations respectively, with various suggestions for improvement such as smooth transition of topics, gestures or clarification of the speaker’s idea.
