Regular Meeting January 13, 2018

    The Regular Meeting No. 477 was held on January 13 at Mina Park 503 conference room with 19 active members and 3 guests.
    Following President N. N.’s statement to call the meeting to order, Word of the Day “Reinforce” was introduced by Ah-Uh Counter TM M. K. who seemed to have a bad cold.

Business Session
    President N. N. announced 3 things.

   1.  Area 57 International Speech Contest being hosted by STMC will be held on April 1 in Odawara city.
    2. “Pathways”, Toastmasters’ new education program, will be explained by TM K. O. at the Regular Meeting on March 24.
    3. Meeting rooms in new Fujisawa city hall are available for us Fujisawa citizens.

Toastmaster of the Day
    Toastmaster of the Day TM T. O. introduced his 4 assistants, Grammarian TM L. C., Ah-Uh Counter TM M. K., Vote Counter TM Y. T. and Timer TM H. S.

    Since we had 3 guests including 1 former Toastmaster, the 4 assistants explained their roles briefly for the guests.

Joke Session
    Joke master TM E. M. told some funny stories mainly from his past experience in STMC.

Prepared Speech Session
    TMOD TM T. O. announced the main points about Question & Answer time which was introduced as a routine in the Prepared Speech Session starting today.

    Four speakers delivered speeches.
    The 1st Speaker TM J. Y. delivered her speech titled “A stroll in the Park” based on Project No. 6 “Vocal Variety” from the manual “Competent Communication”.
    The 2nd Speaker TM Y. U. delivered his speech titled “The man approached Ichiro” based on Project No. 2 “Speaking in Praise” from the advanced manual “Special Occasion Speeches”.
    The 3rd Speaker TM M. I. delivered her speech titled “Unforgettable words of friends in Belgium” based on Project No. 2 “Organize Your Speech” from the manual “Competent Communication”.
    The 4th Speaker TM N. S. delivered her speech titled “Romeo and Juliet” based on Project No. 4 “The Play” from the advanced manual “Interpretive Reading”.

    Each speaker well managed his/her first Q&A time.

Table Topics Session 
    Table Topics Master TM H. M. had been in Ehime Prefecture on his long-term business trip. He attended the Regular Meeting for the first time in this term.

    He said he is very much interested in boosting Japanese tourism industry. So please tell me some tips and hints about it and asked the 1st question to 2 members, TM A.T. and TM Y. H., and the 2nd question to TM K. O.

      What is your favorite sightseeing spot in Japan?
    The 2nd Question
      Tell me about your birthplace referring to your cheerful, happy childhood.

Evaluation Session
    After 10-minute intermission, the Evaluation Session started 5 minutes behind schedule.

    General Evaluator TM Y. W. who was introduced by TMOD to be the most suitable member for the club slogan “Be positive. Be active” presided at the Evaluation Session smoothly.

    Four Evaluators, TM A. M., TM N. N., TM K. T. and TM K. K. gave appropriate, encouraging evaluation, respectively. Especially T M K. T. admired the expression “put myself into someone’s shoe” which 3rd Prepared Speaker TM M. I. used in her speech. 

Award Presentation
    TMOD Award was given to TM H. M. because of his attendance and having a role after long absence.

    Best Table Topics Award was given to TM A. T who was present for the first time in this term.
    Best Evaluator Award was given to TM N. N.
    Best Prepared Speaker Award was given to TM M. I. She has got the Best Speaker Award twice in a row since she recently joined STMC.

At the end of the meeting President N. N .asked 3 guests for short comments.
    All of them gave their impressions of the meeting. They seemed to have enjoyed the meeting.

Declaration ceremony for Ms. T. S.
    After the Regular Meeting, the Declaration Ceremony for Ms. T. S. was held.

    As Ms. T. S. was absent due to hospitalization of her daughter, the ceremony proceeded, on behalf of her, with VPM TM N. S.’s reading her self- introduction.
    Ms. T. S’s entrance to STMC was unanimously approved by members according to the rule.  
    The Induction Ceremony for her will be held at her earliest convenience.

      Award Winners
