On July 22, a hot day, we held the regular meeting #469 with 17 members and 2 guests at Tsujido Library. To our regret, a prepared speaker was unable to attend because of sudden illness.

Word of the Day presented by TM Y.U. was “Critical (adjective)”.

Business Session

VPE TM M.K. announced the outline of the summer event.
President N.N informed members that we were going to try new QA sessions in our regular meetings in October and Novemberr.

Introduction of Partners

TMOD A.U. introduced Grammarian TM N.N., Ah-Uh Counter TM Y.U., Vote Counter TM T.I. and Timer TM T.O.. The all role takers explained their own roles briefly for the guests.

Joke Session

Joke Master TM K.T. told some funny short stories about Doctors in a nice tempo. It was impressive that he repeated “Doc, ….”

Prepared Speech Session

We had four prepared speakers.

1st speaker was TM K.K. The title was “Roaming Another World” (CC#1 Ice Breaker for his 2nd round. He introduced historic remains and told how he goes into those eras.

2nd speaker was TM.H.S. The title was “Love at First Sight” (Storytelling#4 The Touching Story). She talked a story of one couole having fallen in love at first sight with gestures and vocal variety full of emotion.

3rd speaker was TM E.M. The title was “Three Words for Survival” (Humorously Speaking#1 Warm up Your Audience). He delivered a story that his grandchild acquired three words for survive in a preschool abroad: No, Mine and More.

4th speaker was TM J.Y. The title was “Poor memory, good luck” (CC#4 How to Say It). She talked anecdotes about her forgatfullness and happy reovery of the things left behind.

Table Topics Session

Table Topics Master was TM Y.H. gave seven questions all about summer. All the attendees except one had their own roles, she struggled to call on the speakers.
The questions were as follows:

• What is your plan during this summer vacation?（TM M.H.）
• What do you want to do most during this summer vacation?　(TM C.T.)
• When you were a pupil or a student, did you finish your homework earlier or just before the deadline? (TM T.I.)
• Have you ever been to a summer festival or firework festival wearing Yukata? (TM Y.U.)
• What is your most favorite taste of your mother’s in summer? (TM K.T.)
• When you were a pupil, did you attend the radio gymnastic exercises early in the morning without being absent? (TM K.K.)
• What is your most memorable incident during summer vacation? (TM H.S.)

Evaluation Session

After 10 minutes’ break, we had Evaluation Session. TM N.S. took the role of General Evaluator.

• 1st evaluator was TM L.C.
• 2nd evaluator was TM M.K.
• 3rd evaluator was TM Y.H.
• 4th evaluator was TM S.N.

On July 8, we held the first regular meeting of the new term No.468 with 21 members at Mina Park. New President Naruke gave the inaugural greeting.
 Word of the Day “handy (adjective), hand (noun), handle (verb) and handily(adverb)” President introduced TM Y.U. as Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) to start the program and he introduced his supporters Grammarian, Ah/Uh Counter, Vote Counter and Timer.

Then TMOD introduced Joke Master TM T. O., who told two funny stories. One was an episode about two pairs of managers in his old company. Their names were Tako – Kai and Kaku – Maru. It was effective to relax the audience before listening to speeches. We enjoyed the session very much.

We proceeded to Prepared Speech  Session. 

The first speaker, TM Y.W. delivered a speech which was selected by his evaluator TM T.I. from among five suggested themes. It was “Daughters”. His speech was based on the Manual “Specialty Speeches, Project #1 Impromptu Speaking” He used Power-Point and vocal variety very effectively.

The second speaker TM A.M. delivered a speech titled “Curry travels around the world” based on the Manual “Speaking to inform, Project #1 The Speech to Inform”. He introduced many kinds of Curry and its history. He also used Power Point. It was effective.

The third speaker TM A.M. delivered a speech titled “Mountaineering” based on the Manual “The persuasive Speaking, Project #5 The Persuasive Leader”. His posture of rock climbing in the picture was so impressive. He said, “A flower of the mountain I saw was like my wife” It was a nice expression.

. The fourth speaker TM L.C. delivered his speech titled “How the club president experience has helped me grow up” based on the Manual “Competent Communication, Project #5 The Your Body Speaks” His speech reminded us of his lots of devoted effort for our club as President.

The fifth speaker TM A.S. delivered a speech titled “Thank You Award” based on the Manual “Special Occasion Speeches, Project #4 Presenting an Award”. Her speech was very elegant.

Next session was Table Topics Session conducted by TM Y.H. She prepared the following four questions calling for “quick thinking and speaking skill”.

Q1. Please let us know your tips for being happy. 
A1. TM T.K. answered that she takes the communication with her friends.
Q2. Do you have any routines to cheer you up?  
A2. TM H.S. answered that she does Chinese Dancing for it.
Q3. Do you have any place that makes you relaxed? 
A3. TM Y.H. answered that she drinks coffee while hearing records.
Q4. Is there anything you have accomplished since the new year day? 
A4.TM K.O. answered that she did her best regarding the director election,  
      headquarters of Toastmasters International.
Q5. The same as above.  Is there anything you have accomplished since the New
      year Day? 
A5. TM Y.T. answered that she has accomplished her two goals : she took the role of
      an officer in STMC and has been acting as a volunteer in Yugawara-Machi.

After intermission, Evaluation Session started with General Evaluator TM N.N. Five evaluators provided their personal opinions and suggestions to the prepared speakers according to the speech objectives in the Manual.

Finally, TMOD announced the following Award Winners. 
The TMOD Award: TM A.M. He used wonderful word in his speech. 
The Best Table Topics Speaker Award: TM J.T. 
The Best Evaluator: TM J.Y. 
The Best Prepared Speaker: TM A.S.
