President Chen called No. 454 meeting to order, and TM A. M. explained “Word of the Day.” The word was “perfect [pɚ:ˈfɪˌkt] (adjective) / perfect [pɚfeˈkt] (verb).” This Word of the Day was used so carefully because the position of stress makes the meaning different. Joke Session relaxes the audience. The Joke Master TM K. K. told three funny stories of his three friends. The first was one in his childhood. When he was late for school, he explained the reason as bellow: I found an old lady picking up coins she had mistakenly scattered on the road. To save her work, I was standing on a 50 sen (now worth 500yen) coin. The second was in his 30s. He was shiningly bald, but his wife and daughter (5-6years old) both had beautiful hair. Someone said to the daughter, “You must have got your hair from Mom.” She replied, “No, I think I got it from Dad.” The third was in his 60s. He received 10,000 yen from his daughter with a note “For anything to make your life more comfortable.” He bought a gift to his wife.

At Prepared Speech Session, we had four mature and talented speakers.

The first speaker TM T. N. delivered the speech titled “Extending Healthy Life Expectancy.” He used some useful facts, such as his experiences and visual aids to support his points and opinions about the topic. Playing tennis is also good for health. It was a wonderful speech that he organized perfectly.

Conquering the cold call.” It was about a technique for “cold call” selling of expensive products or services. He tried to approach the buyer by “Blue ocean strategy” against “Red ocean strategy.” It was so effective that he used questions to help the buyer discover problems with the situation.

The third speaker TM H. M. delivered his first speech titled “About Myself” as an ice breaker. He introduced himself. In his childhood he was following after his grandma. But he has been training kendo since he was a schoolboy. Now he works at a tourist enterprise and he wants to speak in English more. That is the reason why he joined STMC. We all welcome you.
