2016/11/12 No. 453 Regular Meeting
No. 453 regular meeting was held on November 12, 2016 at Minapark. This was the third final meeting in the year 2016. A lively atmosphere was filled in the room from before the meeting started because we planed the Declaration Ceremony and we had two new guests!
President Chen called No. 453 meeting to order, and TM T. M. explained “ Word of the Day”. The word was “Elaborate (adjective) / Elaborate (verb) “. This Word of the Day was very useful so that many speakers used the word during their speeches.
The TMOD was TM N. S. who was introduced by President Chen. TMOD encouraged members and guests to enjoy the meeting together. Then, Grammarian, Ah-Uh Counter, Vote Counter, and Timers explained their roles briefly. Those explanations help not only guests but also new members to understand the meeting procedures and rules.
The Joke Session is effective to relax the audience before listening to speeches. The Joke Master was TM T. O., who told two funny stories from his own experiences. One is about the extremely modest doctor who operated his eye. The second one was about his misunderstanding between two restaurants. He went to the wrong restaurant that he didn’t reserve, but he believed his reservation. What did happen on him? It was very funny, but the similar things would happen on us too.
At the prepared speech session, we had five mature and talented speakers.
The first speaker TM Y. W. delivered the technical briefing titled “Radiation”. The speech gave us the fact about radiation. The speech with a lot of statistics was very persuasive.
The second speaker TM Y. O. delivered the speech titled “A Small Lie”. It was about his adventure in Morocco in his student hood. Moroccans seemed to be particularly fascinated with him at that time. His small lie to Moroccans made them excited.
The third speaker TM M.K. delivered his entertaining speech titled “My Best TV Shopping”. Surprisingly enough, his best item from TV shopping was the sales talks by the sales person of the TV shopping program. His point surprised the audiences, which was one of relishes of listening to a speech.
The fourth speaker TM E. M. delivered his moral of the story titled “ The After Tale of The Hare and The Tortoise”. The story was actually about the after tale of the famous losing hare. The hare helped the young hares in his village, which were in danger to be sacrificed to a dreadful wolf. He was forgiven his failure because of his courage. The audiences were relieved with the end.
The last speaker TM S. N. delivered his story telling titled “ A Mysterious Saudi Arabian Night”. He told about his unbelievable experience at the first night in Saudi Arabia. It was very mysterious that he couldn’t understand why it happened at all. The wonderful story perfectly attracted the audiences.
The next session was The Table Topics Session that conducted by TM Y. U..
Since November 12 is the memorial day of clothes 「洋服の日」, he prepared the topics regarding “clothes”.
Q1: Which do you like Western Clothes or Kimono, and why?
TM H. M answered it. He told that he used to wear Kimono and Hakama when he practiced Kendo.
Q 2: What memory have you got when you put on your business suit for the first time? .
Table Topics Master called on TM T. I., and he told about his first day as a businessman.
Q3: Do you have any memory related to Western Clothes or Japanese Kimono? Anything is ok.
TM T. A. told about her favorite blazer in her youth.
Q4: Please let us know when about your wedding. Which dress did your wife and you selected Western dress and taxied or Japanese “Bunkin Takasimada” and “Montsuki-hakam”? And please share us the happy story at that time, briefly.
TM A. M. introduced his honeymoon in Fukushima.
Q5. Please tell us your favorite cloth and the episode about it.
TM Y. H. answered about her beautiful race dresses made by a famous designer in her childhood.
Q6. What kind of cloth do you want to your grandchild put on at the time of “Shichigosan”?
TM Y. T. answered that Kimono was very ecological.
The last session was the evaluation session, which conducted by General Evaluator TM Y. H.. Five evaluators evaluated each speaker. Their sharp, various, and clear-eyed evaluations helped a lot for not only the speakers but also for the audiences in order to improve their speeches and evaluations.

The meeting was closed successfully and fruitfully.
After the meeting, we had the declaration ceremony for the prospective member Mr. A. U.. He delivered his speech for showing his will to be a member of STMC. And all attendees were unanimous for his acceptance. All members welcomed him with a big hand.
